FRANCISCO LUFINHA
Francisco Lufinha é um jovem Português de 31 anos, completamente apaixonado por desportos náuticos. Com apenas 15 dias, foi levado para um barco pelos seus pais e nunca mais conseguiu, nem quis, desligar-se do mar. Natural de Lisboa, aos onze anos iniciou-se na Vela, onde durante sete anos de competição ganhou regatas nacionais e regionais e representou Portugal em diversas provas europeias. Para além da Vela também praticou Ski Aquático, Wakeboard e Windsurf, mas foi o Kitesurf que o cativou, por ser uma mistura dos seus desportos favoritos. Em 2005 sagrou-se campeão nacional e em 2006 vice-campeão, alcançando também nesse ano um 5º lugar na regata do circuito mundial PKRA em Portimão.

MINI KITESURF ODYSSEY | 2015
After the adventure in the Atlantic Ocean on December 2014, on an Odyssey which connected the Savages Islands to Funchal, Francisco will try to break the limits again on an even harder task to accomplish. This year, the objective wants to connect Portugal mainland to Madeira Island, starting in Lisbon and sailing non-stop until reaching Machico’s bay, in Madeira.
On a trip which may last about 40 hours, Francisco shall brake the 2013 World Record of “the longest distance in kitesurf without stops”. In order to navegate 1000 Km (530 M) he will endure two nights on the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean under challenging weather conditions, strong winds and high swell.
If he manages to complete this journey, Francisco will be the first person to connect the Lisbon to Madeira Island in Kitesurf, conquering another bold objective on the Portuguese sea. Follow Francisco challenging himself to fulfill another odyssey!
The four pillars of the challenge:
METEOROLOGY
The trickiest aspect of project. Strong south wind that could bring 33 feet waves and strong precipitation.
SECURITY
One of the most important aspects of the odyssey. Francisco will be helped by a rescue boat from the Portuguese Navy.
RESISTANCE
With his intensive physical preparation and through training practices, he managed to overcome several adversities and fatigue.
MOTIVATION
You cannot achieve anything without motivation. In order to keep on going, Francisco relies on his team support and from all of you!
